Pro Tips & Delicious Variations

  • Vegetables can be random. You may need to bake longer to get rid of excessive liquid, or slice thinner if they are older and more fibrous.
  • Gruyere loves garlic and if you do, too, add whole cloves of smashed garlic with the vegetables, or grate a clove of garlic into the sauce.
  • Top the final layer of cheese with plain or herb seasoned bread crumbs, or panko for extra texture.
  • For variety, add a pinch or two of a mediterranean herb into the sauce- oregano, sage, or any other earthy herb.
