Pro Tips & Delicious Variations
- Not-Beef Bouillon Cubes are sold at better health food stores. The Edward & Sons brand is vegan and gluten-free. Check the sodium levels and adjust the recipe seasoning to taste.
- Egg noodles are usually sold by the pound; make the whole package and use leftover noodles in another dish, such as with steamed broccoli and butter, or only prepare as much as you need.
- You can adjust the texture of the gravy by thinning it with water, or thickening it by whisking in a mixture of ½ T cornstarch and 1 T water.
- Handmade egg noodles, a good Cabernet and a lightly dressed end-of-season garden salad can build a lovely casual and rustic dinner on a cooler late summer night.
